Northrop-Grumman Newport News Shipbuilding (NGNN)

Northrop-Grumman Newport News Shipbuilding (NGNN) builds nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines for the US Navy. They must train and retrain thousands of skilled shipyard workers each year.  The challenge is to decrease the amount of time it takes to train and to increase training efficiency while maximizing instructor face-time and spending less money in doing so.

The following screenshot is but one sample from a series of 25 courses that were transitioned from a pure instructor-led approach to a blended, computer assisted approach. By streamlining the training process, NGNN has a positive ROI of more than a million dollars a year! Each course utilizes multimedia video, animated graphics, interactive assessments and easy to use interfaces.
